BEVERLY — Historic Districts Commission orders public hearing on Paine Avenue house. Chair William Finch and members Wendy Pearl and John Leahy voted unanimously to advance a determination of applicability proceeding for a 50-year-old modern deck-style house at 38 Paine Avenue to formal review under the city's Demolition Delay Ordinance, finding the structure architecturally and historically significant enough to warrant further examination. Vice Chair Suzanne Lamont sought more detail through the hearing.
In parallel business, the Commission appointed Pearl and Leahy to a subcommittee tasked with refining proposed updates to Chapter 168 Historic Buildings and Districts, with Director of Planning and Development Darlene Wynne to invite Member Emily Hutchings to participate.
