Beverly Planning Board Adopts Plan Beverly Master Plan 7-0

BEVERLY — December 15, 2020 — Beverly Planning Board unanimously adopts citywide master plan after 18-month process. The board voted 7-0 on December 15 to ratify the Plan Beverly Master Plan, a long-range policy document covering land use, housing, economic development, mobility, and sustainability for the next 10 to 15 years. Planning Director Darlene Nguyen and consultant Tim Love of UTL fielded questions from board member Derek Beckwith on commercial growth strategy, with Mayor Mike Cahill clarifying the plan deliberately steers new development toward redevelopment of underutilized areas along Route 128 and in the Cherry Hill Industrial Park rather than greenfield sites. Two technical amendments were incorporated before the vote: a clarifying caption on a conceptual bicycle network map and the removal of R10-zoned parcels near Enon Street in North Beverly from a study-area map, following a neighborhood meeting that drew praise from Ward 5 Councilor Feldman and resident Chris Pittman of 10 Lakeview Street. The board is scheduled to present the plan to the City Council on December 21 for a non-binding endorsement vote.
