Library Trustees, Board of · Meeting of May 26, 2026
Beverly Library Trustees approve $2.38M FY27 budget with service reductions. Library Director Allison Babin reported the proposed budget exceeds the Municipal Appropriations Requirement by $460.51, securing certification without a waiver. To stay within available funds, the library will permanently attrit a part-time accounts payable position, reduce Farms branch hours by three on Tuesdays, cut Saturday hours from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. to 10 a.m.-1 p.m., and close the main library children's room at 7 p.m. instead of 9 p.m.
Monday-Thursday. Babin noted the budget depends on a $425 trash fee increase being voted on by City Council; if rejected, additional cuts may follow.
