Council approves funds for Glover Wharf pier reconstruction

Beverly City Council unanimously approves $137,500 transfer to match $550,000 Seaport Economic Council grant for Glover Wharf commercial hoist and fishing pier reconstruction. Finance Director Bryant Ayles clarified that the matching funds come from the Harbor Management Authority Fund and Waterways Improvement Fund, with reconstruction planned for February through April 2026. In a separate 8-1 vote, the Council reappointed Budget Analyst Gerry Perry with a salary increase, with Councilor John Mullady voting against, citing concerns about fiscal reserves advocacy and staffing cuts.
Three GONETSPEED fiber-optic installation petitions and one National Grid electric conduit petition received public hearings that were recessed to March 2 and February 17 respectively, with residents expressing concerns about construction disruption and pavement conditions.
