Beverly School Committee approves three BTA labor agreements in emergency session

BEVERLY -- November 27, 2024, Beverly School Committee ratifies two union contracts and a return-to-work agreement with the Beverly Teachers Association. In an 18-minute emergency remote session on November 27, the Committee of the Whole, chaired by Rachel Abel and joined by Mayor Kevin Cahill, Kenan McKenzie DeFranza, Karen Robinson, Dr. Jeffrey Silva, and Linda Viznik, voted 6-0 on each of three motions after a closed executive session on bargaining strategy. The two memoranda of understanding cover BTA Units A and C for September 1, 2024 through August 31, 2027; the return-to-work agreement is dated November 6, 2024, suggesting a prior work stoppage. No financial terms were disclosed in open session. Member Kimberly Quo was absent for all votes.
