BEVERLY — The Library Trustees board voted unanimously to approve the Assistant Library Director contract, resolving August concerns about supervisory authority. The approval occurred as the library faces a significant budget crisis; it failed to meet the Municipal Appropriation Requirement for FY27 and will seek a waiver with documentation due in early November. Effective July 1, the library closed the Children's Room at 7 p.m. instead of 9 p.m. and reduced Farms branch hours from 52 to 33 per week, following an $80,000 budget cut and loss of one full-time position.
Director Allison Babin indicated the budget situation will worsen in FY28. The library received 33 new computers and 16 chromebook kits through a grant.
