BEVERLY — MassDevelopment has issued a $4 million tax-exempt bond on behalf of Glen Urquhart School to help finance construction of a new campus entry building, one of the more substantial local capital projects to surface in recent days.

The $4 million bond, issued through the state's quasi-public economic development authority, will help Glen Urquhart School finance the new entry building on its campus, according to a Patch report picked up in local news alerts. The financing represents a significant capital investment in the school's physical footprint, though further details on construction timing were not available in the initial report.

Separately, JLL has negotiated the $8.5 million sale of a roughly 60,666-square-foot grocery building in Beverly, according to a report from REBusinessOnline. The transaction adds to a string of commercial real estate activity in the city this year.

The city also has a new youth center opening its doors: residents are being invited to celebrate the grand opening of the McPherson Youth Center, with an afternoon planned that includes free food and snacks, a teen talent showcase, and outdoor games, per a Patch report. A specific opening date was not included in available reporting.
