Beverly School Committee approves three AFSCME contracts by 7-0 votes

Other Committee · Meeting of September 16, 2026

Beverly School Committee ratifies three AFSCME contracts in a 25-minute remote session. Members voted 7-0 five times: first to enter executive session under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 30A, Section 21(a)(3), to discuss collective bargaining strategy, then to accept memoranda of agreement with the clerks, crossing guards, and cafeteria workers units negotiated over the summer. Mayor Mike Cahill, Ms.

Cahill, Catherine Frost, Ms. Lennox, Ms. Coelho, and Ms.

Robinson joined the chair on every roll call; Ms. Harnden and Mr. Taylor were absent.

The chair called scheduling extra meetings a "constant balancing act," noting items pushed off this agenda will make the committee's September 23 meeting "pretty long." The session, held under the state's continued remote-meeting allowance, adjourned 7-0 at 7:20 p.m.
