Beverly School Committee approves COVID working-conditions deal with teachers union
BEVERLY — September 29, 2021 — Beverly School Committee unanimously ratifies COVID-era labor agreement with its teachers union. The committee of the whole voted 5-0 on September 29, 2021, to approve a memorandum of agreement between the Beverly School Committee and the Beverly Teachers Association governing COVID-related working conditions for the start of the 2021-2022 school year. Chair Rachel Abel presided over the remote meeting, with members Mayor Kevin Cahill, Karen Robinson, John Milady, and Lorinda Visnick all voting in favor; Dr. McKenzie and Ms. Cuello were absent. The committee first closed to executive session to discuss collective bargaining strategy and review prior executive session minutes before returning to open session to ratify the September 23, 2021 agreement, which became a public record upon passage.
