Beverly Public Library Board approved four policies unanimously and addressed FY2027 budget constraints. Library Director Allison Babin reported the $2,325,891.01 appropriation represents an $80,000 reduction driven by the City Council's decision to cut the proposed trash fee from $425 to $300, forcing $1.4 million in cuts across municipal departments. The library will absorb the reduction by maintaining a vacant full-time position and reducing Farms branch hours from 45 to 30 per week, based on circulation showing 82 percent of use at the main library.
Babin presented data on the library's 301 percent return on investment to councilors.
